Our Team

Jen Irons (nee Greenhough)
Occupational Therapist and Practice Owner
Hi, I am Jen Irons, a farm girl from Dundee who founded Greenhough Occupational Therapy Inc in 2014. My husband, Rowan and I have two children and live in Pietermaritzburg.
I obtained my BSc Occupational Therapy degree at the University of Cape Town in 2006. Since then I’ve worked in various countries, contexts and in different scopes of Occupational Therapy.
I am passionate about assisting people in need and meeting them where they are at. I enjoy being an Occupational Therapist because it’s a diverse profession which is focused on enhancing clients’ well-being. It requires constant problem-solving and out-of-the box thinking to meet the individual needs of the client. I consider it a privilege to be able to journey alongside our clients and have worked with both children and adults. I believe in advocating for the OT profession and have a heart for providing learning and growth opportunities for younger therapists. Outside of work, my focus is on my family, outdoor adventures and exploring new places.

Occupational Therapist
Hi, I’m Kate! I graduated with a BSc in Occupational Therapy in 2020 and kicked off my career doing community service in rural Mpumalanga. Since then, I’ve wandered my way through private rehab facilities, a community health clinic in Cape Town, and even helped run the OT department at a district hospital in Alice, Eastern Cape. Now I’ve landed at Greenhough OT INC, KZN—my fourth province—and I’m loving the journey. I’m especially passionate about neuro-based rehab, wheelchair and assistive device work, and making at least one person smile every day. When I’m not in OT mode, you’ll probably find me out hiking, camping, playing the fool with friends, reading, or dancing around to music (badly, but enthusiastically).

Hi, I am Jessica Heaver. I grew up on a farm in the small community of Paddock which is located on the lower South Coast in KwaZulu-Natal. I obtained my B. Occupational Therapy cum laude from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. I spent my community service year at Murchison District Hospital before joining the Greenhough OT family and continuing my love for hospital-based intervention.
I am passionate and motivated about going the extra mile to ensure a positive difference in the lives of others. I value working alongside and supporting patients and their families during their therapy journey. I strive to empower individuals and to assist them to regain their independence and to facilitate their return to daily activities, that bring meaning and purpose to their lives. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, I love the outdoors, and always seek out new adventures.

Ruby wares
Occupational Therapist
Hi, I am Ruby Wares. I grew up in Cape Town and earned my BSc. Occupational Therapy Cum Laude from the University of the Western Cape. I moved to Pietermaritzburg to complete my community service year at Grey’s Hospital, where I discovered a passion for hospital-based therapy. This experience – along with the incredible community of people – led me to stay on and continue my OT journey in the private sector with the Greenhough OT team.
I have a special interest in physical and neurological rehabilitation and find great purpose in walking alongside my clients – celebrating small wins, rebuilding independence, adapting to new challenges, and rediscovering meaning in everyday life. Working at Greenhough has allowed me to deepen this passion in a supportive and dynamic setting. Outside of work, you’ll likely find me outdoors – adventuring and exploring, discovering hidden gems in nature, spending time with friends and family (and visiting home whenever I can), or soaking up the unique charm of KZN.

Hi, I’m Megan Chetty. I grew up in Pietermaritzburg and later moved to Cape Town to pursue my Bachelor of Occupational Therapy at Stellenbosch University. I completed my Community Service Year in Bethlehem, a small town in the Free State, where I had the privilege of working in both semi-rural and urban healthcare settings. This experience laid a strong foundation for my career, which has since included working in acute hospital environments and a government regional hospital. These roles have allowed me to develop and refine my clinical expertise and interpersonal skills across a broad spectrum of patient needs.

Sheri bharat
Practice Adminstrator
Hi, I am Sheri Bharat, and have spent my life in Pietermaritzburg. I come from an extended close-knit family which is where I first learnt the importance of teamwork. I developed a passion for administrative tasks, specifically in the healthcare sector, while working at a local ophthalmic practice.
I am currently the Practice Administrator at Greenhough Occupational Therapy Inc. I love working alongside the therapists by supporting them with all the admin tasks that accompany their diverse roles. I enjoy engaging with clients and their families. The highlight of my job is witnessing the change in people as they find hope during their journey to recovery.

julia O'Connell

Hi, I’m Julia O’Connell. I was born and raised on a farm in Richmond, KwaZulu-Natal, and now live in Eston with my husband and 5 dogs. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Sport Science from Stellenbosch University, where I majored in disabilities, and I am also a trained caregiver.
I help with the practice admin as well as help as an occupational therapy assistant at Greenhough Occupational Therapy Inc. I love working alongside the therapists by supporting them with the administrative and therapeutic responsibilities that accompany their diverse and meaningful roles.
With a compassionate and gentle nature, I value connection, consistency, and kindness in everything I do. The highlight of my job is witnessing the transformation in people as they rediscover hope and purpose on their therapy journey. My background in caregiving and disability studies continues to shape the way I interact with both clients and colleagues with empathy, patience, and sincerity.
Outside of work, you’ll most often find me walking my dogs, enjoying the outdoors, or curled up with a good book.
