Greenhough Occupational Therapy Inc

Greenhough Occupational Therapy Inc provides acute and chronic, physical and cognitive rehabilitation to adults and children with illness, injury or disability in the Pietermaritzburg, Hilton and Howick hospitals, as outpatients and within their home environments.

Why See an Occupational Therapist?

Occupational Therapy is:

  • A client-centred health profession
  • Focused on promoting health and well-being through occupation
  • Primarily concerned with enabling people to participate in the activities of everyday life

This is achieved by working with people and communities to enhance their ability to engage in the occupation they want to, need to, or are expected to do, or by modifying the occupation or the environment to better support their occupational engagement (WFOT 2021).

What We Do

We work with people of all ages and abilities to support them in doing the things that matter most to them. Illness, injury, and disability can impact many aspects of everyday life, from getting dressed in the morning to being able to work or socialise with family and friends.

The aim of occupational therapy is to help people live a full and meaningful life.

We do this by working with our patients to understand what is most important to them, how their health condition has affected them, and by developing holistic and individualised treatment plans.

What Our Clients Have To Say

“My husband was admitted to hospital and taken by Yenke the Occupational Therapist. The therapy helped him a lot and now he can walk almost back to normal. During this time the care was superb…to Greenhough OTs and colleagues, we are very grateful.”

Mr Howard (Stroke)

“I can honestly say that the therapy that I received from Robyn and the Greenhough OT team (after I sustained a spinal cord injury) was outstanding. I always say there were two people that were so involved directly with my rehab, that being my OT Robyn and physio Mino. All the therapists were efficient, knew their work, were friendly and understanding. It takes a very special person to have the dedication and compassion for this line of work. I highly recommend Greenhough Occupational Therapy and believe that they must be one of the best practices in the country.”

Wendy Hattingh (Spinal Cord Injury)

“The Greenhough Occupational Therapy Team went out of their way to assist my 3-year-old son,  as well as us as a family, on his road to recovery from an unexpected illness, Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS). Robyn, as his therapist, was amazing, working with true professionalism, absolute care and personal attention. She made us all feel so comfortable and was continuously reassuring and encouraging. Just a genuine and dedicated therapist who went out of her way to get my boy mobile and active again. She is highly skilled, thinks on her feet and has such passion for what she does, which is therapy for babies and kids. Any child in need of OT would be blessed to have the services of Greenhough OTs and can be assured to receive the best possible care.”
